Built in 1751 by the French, Fort Beauséjour was taken in 1755 by the British in a battle for control of Acadie. The star-shaped fort saw combat again during the American Revolution in 1776 when it was attacked by rebel sympathizers. It later defended the area during the war of 1812. |
